Sripriya Mehta is a post graduate student at Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka. She is pursuing her PG Diploma in HR and Marketing and has recently successfully completed a 12-week internship at Dabur India.
Conversing over a phone call, the MBA student shares details about her experience at Dabur India as well as explains how ASM is committed towards making every student industry-ready for Day 1.

Tell us about your internship experience?
I worked as an HR intern at the Dabur India corporate office. My work revolved around HR specific projects like talent acquisition, performance management, HR strategy, annual appraisal plans and learning and development.
Compensation grid planning and up scaling salaries of current employees were also a part of my work sphere. I did market surveys for the same and also worked on hiring for product specialists and did talent mapping.
Why HR though?
I have interest in psychology and I did my graduation in English literature from Delhi University, so that further sharpened my empathetic and intellectual skills.
Also, from a management perspective, I did an internship in marketing and I noticed that I love interacting with people. But doing things from a more empathetic side is my skill and area of interest as well. Hence, I chose HR. I will be better able to take care of people this way!

ASM has shaped you well to take on these responsibilities?
ASM is great. It is a good college with an excellent reputation. The institute provides us with mentorship, corporate exposure and a lovely campus. The faculty is very approachable largely and they are always there to guide you.
How are the classmates, classes and everything else?
The classes are going good; there’s so much to do, it gets hectic sometimes but that’s how it should be. Now in the second year, the college is stricter with things.

One life lesson you picked here?
Your environment shapes you a lot. At ASM, we get corporate exposure, so it keeps us on our toes. We know what to expect from a corporate office and hence, I am sure we will blend in well.
Where do we see you in the next five years?
In a challenging role in the HR domain along with moving forward in life.
