Words hold an incredible power — just a few thoughtful expressions can spark hope, mend broken spirits, or ignite determination. The true strength of language lies not only in communication but also in its ability to shape thoughts, build connections, and influence actions. Harnessing this power wisely, the two debaters from Class XI – Anvi Gupta and Anvi Sharma from Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, created an uproar in the fraternity by securing the Third Position in the Interschool Zonal Hindi Debate Competition by underscoring positivity, unity, and meaningful change in society.
“Our topic was “OTT प्लेटफॉर्म्स पर सेंसरशिप होनी चाहिए या नहीं”. Avni Gupta spoke for the motion, while I spoke against the motion. At first, we did not think that we would secure any position due to the extremely high competition, but we were extremely excited after the results were announced,” shared Avni Sharma.
“Hindi debating has truly honed my personality by boosting my confidence, sharpening my logical thinking, and making me more expressive and bold in presenting my views,” shared the Class XI student Anvi Gupta.
Though nothing in life gets simply served on a platter, both girls underwent a rigorous share of challenges. “Our debate preparation was not fully completed until the final day. We also found it challenging to memorise the entire four-minute debate just before the competition. This was the most challenging part, but I believe we were able to tackle it with our determination and hard work,” explained Anvi Sharma.
For Anvi, the prime challenge was handling stage fright and tough arguments from opponents, which she overcame with thorough preparation, practice, and teamwork.
Both orators gave their due credit to their school, which opened avenues for them to test their potential. “Apeejay School played a big role in this journey by giving us proper guidance, regular practice opportunities, and constant encouragement to showcase our skills,” expressed Anvi.
“I am very grateful to my school for giving me a chance to participate in this competition. Moreover, I am also extremely thankful to all of the teachers who supported and motivated us throughout this journey,” concluded Anvi.
