Bhavya Dhankani, an esteemed alumni of Apeejay School, Saket, has carved out an impressive career since graduating in 2015. At present, serving as an Assistant Manager in Corporate Strategy – CEO’s office at Hero Enterprise, Bhavya reflects on her transformative educational journey and how her time at Apeejay School laid the groundwork for her future success.
Can you share your educational path after graduating from Apeejay School?
My journey has indeed been a rollercoaster ride. After completing my class XII in Commerce, I pursued a Bachelor of Commerce from Gargi College. Following that, I secured a position at EY through campus placement and later transitioned to KPMG, where I fell in love with consulting.
What challenges did you face while working in consulting?
Consulting may seem lucrative from the outside, but it demands long hours and constant readiness to tackle new challenges. Every day presents a unique problem that requires creative solutions, making it an enormous learning curve.
How did your experience at Apeejay School shape your career?
My school not only provided me with a strong academic foundation but also offered a diverse range of extracurricular activities that were instrumental in my personal growth. Through opportunities to learn folk and international dances, participate in recitations, act in plays during annual events, and anchor various functions, I developed valuable skills in teamwork, communication, and public speaking. These experiences not only enhanced my social abilities but also taught me the importance of collaboration, confidence, and creativity.
Were there any teachers who left a lasting impact on you?
Absolutely! My English teacher, played a pivotal role in inspiring me to explore opportunities beyond academics. She encouraged me to be confident and voice my opinions. Another influential figure, the Accounting teacher, instilled my love for the subject.
What advice would you give to current students?
Enjoy your school life! It’s a protective community where you can take risks and explore diverse subjects and extracurriculars without fear. Don’t hesitate to participate in cultural exchange programmes or any extracurriculars offered. The skills you gain from participating in sports, arts, and the extracurriculars in addition to the academics shall form the foundation of your future career, irrespective of your field.
