UP schools to introduce coding and AI in its curriculum from 2024

In a significant move toward technology-driven education, the Uttar Pradesh education department has announced that it aims to introduce fundamental coding, computational thinking, and artificial intelligence (AI) concepts into the curriculum of state-run schools, commencing in the academic year 2024-25. 

This integration of AI and coding benefiting over into the curriculum of classes 6 to 8 will benefit 50 lakh students across state-run schools. The inclusion of coding education aligns seamlessly with the NEP-2020 directive, underscoring the pivotal role that technology now plays in contemporary education.

The course will be developed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and integrated as part of the existing science curriculum. 

“Introducing coding and increasing exposure to technology at a young age will go a long way in helping the youth lead the way to a new world of innovation and creativity, thus, giving children the opportunity to set their own goals and reach new heights,” emphasised SCERT Director Pawan Sachan.
