Mirik, a charming tourist destination, is nestled in the tranquil hills of Darjeeling district in West Bengal, India. The region is renowned for its tea gardens, with eight estates located in the Mirik area. Thurbo Tea Estate, one of the finest, is situated just 2 kilometers from the lake. Visitors can tour the factory with prior permission from the manager, gaining insights into the tea production process.

The central attraction, Mirik Lake, also known as Sumendu Lake, spans approximately 1.25 kilometers in length. It is surrounded by chestnut, oak, and maple trees, creating a serene and picturesque environment. Boating and horse riding are popular activities here, allowing visitors to soak in the tranquil atmosphere. The lake, situated at the lowest altitude in Mirik, offers stunning views of the northern mountains and, on clear days, glimpses of the snow-capped Kanchenjunga peaks. Another must-visit spot is the Tingling View Point, which provides stunning vistas of the snow-capped hills that guard Darjeeling and Mirik. The sprawling tea plantations below form a striking contrast with the white snow and blue sky, offering perfect photo opportunities for visitors.
