Unveiling the grandeur of Lawn Tennis

Lawn Tennis is a highly popular sport in the Western world, with its origins dating back to 1873. Over the years, it has evolved into one of the most widely enjoyed and competitive sports globally. The game is played with either two or four players on the court, with two sides separated by a net. Each half of the court has a division line covering its length.

Number of players: A tennis match can have either 2 or 4 players.

Court division: The court is divided into two sides by a net, and each side has a division line.

Serving rules: When serving, the player must land the ball on the other side of the court without touching the net. The ball should land diagonally to the server.

Types of shots: The primary shots in tennis are forehand and backhand.

There are four main tennis events, each considered prestigious in its own right:

US Open

French Open

Australian Open

Wimbledon (Often regarded as the most prestigious of the four)

US Open and Australian Open: Played on hard court or cement.

Wimbledon: Played on grass court.

French Open: Played on clay court.

Roger Federer: Widely considered one of the best in men’s tennis, having won 20 Grand Slam titles, including 8 at Wimbledon.

Novak Djokovic: Regarded as one of the best players currently, approaching Federer’s record.

Rafael Nadal: Renowned for being the best player on clay courts.

Serena Williams: Often considered the best female player in the history of tennis.
