Language Week celebrations are vital for nurturing students’ linguistic skills, creativity, and cultural appreciation. Such activities encourage children to explore diverse languages and their unique contributions to literature and society. They foster a love for reading, writing, and effective communication while promoting an understanding of cultural contexts.
On Day 4 of the Language Week celebrations, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, hosted an engaging ‘story writing workshop’ for students of classes III to V. This enriching workshop featured renowned contemporary author Sristhi Rathour, who guided young minds in the creative art of storytelling.
Through her interactive session, she shared valuable insights on how to craft vivid characters and form simple yet insightful narratives using the STORY framework. Sristhi emphasised the importance of reading a diverse range of books, instilling in the students a profound love and respect for language.

In addition to the story-writing workshop, students from the middle wing participated in an engaging Sanskrit shlok recitation and a picture story activity. During this session, students created English stories while incorporating Sanskrit words for common objects. This unique approach helped foster a deeper connection with Sanskrit, enabling students to appreciate the language’s rich cultural and spiritual value.
The French language segment of the day offered students an exciting exploration of French festivals and cuisine. They delved into the vibrant world of French fashion and its cultural significance, allowing them to broaden their understanding of the French language and its connection to global culture.

“As part of our Language Week celebrations, we dedicated a special day to the French language to encourage students to learn by doing and truly enjoy the experience. Each activity was tailored to the students’ grade level and syllabus. From exploring French cuisine in Class VI and fashion trends in Class VII, to creating Diwali cards in French in Class VIII, our students were fully immersed. These activities helped students connect with French culture in a meaningful, hands-on way.” said Ms Abida Ahmad, TGT French.

Overall, the day was filled with enriching activities and valuable learnings that not only enhanced students’ language skills but also fostered creativity and cultural awareness. The ‘story writing workshop’ and the various language activities exemplified Apeejay School’s commitment to providing a holistic education that embraces linguistic diversity and nurtures a lifelong passion for learning. Through these efforts, students were encouraged to explore the beauty of language, paving the way for their future endeavours.
