The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the detailed subject-wise schedule for the December 2025 cycle of the National Eligibility Test (NET). According to the notification issued on December 17, the examination will begin on December 31 and continue till January 7, 2026.

The UGC NET, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is a national-level assessment held to determine eligibility for the award of the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), recruitment of Assistant Professors, and admission to PhD programmes across the country. For the December 2025 session, the test will be administered for more than 80 subjects through computer-based mode.

The comprehensive date sheet specifying examination days for each subject has been uploaded on the official website. Candidates preparing for the upcoming cycle can check the schedule and plan their revision accordingly. The exam will be held in two shifts each day. The morning session is scheduled from 9 am to 12 noon, while the afternoon shift will be conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm.

The NTA has also informed candidates that the exam city information slip will be made available on its website at least 10 days before the commencement of the test. This advance notification will help aspirants make necessary travel arrangements and familiarise themselves with their designated centres. All updates relating to the exam, including the admit card release, will be published on the official UGC NET portal at ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

With the release of the detailed timetable, the UGC has reiterated its commitment to conducting the exam in a transparent and streamlined manner. The NET serves as a crucial gateway for thousands of postgraduate students and researchers aiming to pursue academic careers or research opportunities in higher education institutions.

Candidates have been advised to regularly monitor the official website for any further announcements and ensure they follow the guidelines issued by the NTA for the smooth conduct of the examination.
