Training budding physiotherapists, IT and multimedia professionals of tomorrow

As part of the student orientation drive, the Department of Physiotherapy at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar recently organised an Orientation Programme for budding physiotherapists, IT and multimedia professionals.

The aim was to equip new students with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate their college years effectively. This event, designed to ensure a productive and enriching academic journey, featured sessions by experienced faculty members, Dr. Neeraj and Dr. Nitika.

During their session, Dr. Neeraj and Dr. Nitika emphasised the extensive experience of both the resident and visiting faculty members, highlighting that students would greatly benefit from their expertise. They outlined the various activities and programs that the Department of Physiotherapy would conduct over the years, ensuring students were aware of the robust learning environment they were entering. The session also illuminated the promising career prospects awaiting students post-graduation, stressing the importance of making the most of their educational opportunities.

A key highlight of the orientation was the department’s commitment to practical learning experiences. Faculty members shared that students would regularly visit hospitals, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in real-world settings. The success of the department’s Outpatient Department (OPD) was also discussed, showcasing the department’s active role in providing practical training and community service.

The department’s collaborations with hospitals, along with its regular conferences and workshops, were highlighted as critical components of the learning experience. These events feature seasoned professionals who provide insights into various nuances of physiotherapy, further enriching the students’ understanding and skills. Additionally, the department’s dedication to celebrating World Physiotherapy Day and organising Blood Donation Camps were noted as regular activities aimed at fostering a sense of community and social responsibility among students. Creative initiatives, such as poster-making competitions to raise awareness, were also mentioned as part of the department’s dynamic approach to education.

The orientation program did not just focus on physiotherapy; parallel sessions were conducted for students of the Department of Computers and IT and the Department of Multimedia. Dr. Roopali Sood and Dr. Jagmohan Mago led the IT session, while Mr. Varinder Saggu and Mr. Ankiit conducted the multimedia session. These sessions aimed to prepare students for the competitive fields of IT and multimedia, respectively.

Addressing students from all streams, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra underscored the lucrative career opportunities in physiotherapy, IT, and multimedia. She encouraged students to be dedicated and sincere in their studies, emphasising that their commitment would be crucial in navigating the competitive landscapes of their chosen fields.

In conclusion, the Orientation Programme at Apeejay College of Fine Arts effectively acquainted new students with the academic and extracurricular opportunities available, set the stage for a productive college experience, and motivated students to strive for excellence in their respective disciplines.
