Festivals are the most beautiful expressions of India’s cultural spirit, and Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park ensures that every celebration becomes a joyful lesson in values. Upholding its tradition of celebrating all festivals with enthusiasm and respect, the school’s Nursery and Kindergarten students came together to mark the pious occasion of Gurupurab — the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji — with devotion, learning, and happiness.
The atmosphere at the school was filled with divine energy as the little ones participated in prayers and kirtan, singing hymns with heartfelt enthusiasm. Dressed in colourful traditional attire, the children looked radiant as they celebrated the revered Guru’s teachings of love, compassion, equality, and selfless service.

Learning Through Stories and Songs
To help the young learners understand the essence of the day, teachers narrated a short and inspiring story from Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life. The story beautifully conveyed his timeless message — that true devotion lies in serving humanity and spreading kindness. Through this storytelling session, children learned that Guru Nanak Dev Ji believed in the oneness of all beings and in treating everyone with respect, regardless of caste, creed, or religion.
The kirtan songs sung by the students created an aura of peace and togetherness. For many children, this was their first introduction to devotional music, offering them a joyful and reflective learning experience.

Understanding the Spirit of Langar Seva
Another highlight of the celebration was an engaging discussion on Langar Seva — the community kitchen tradition started by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Teachers explained how this practice embodies the spirit of sharing, equality, and humility. The students were encouraged to practice these values in their everyday lives — whether by sharing their lunch, helping friends, or showing kindness at home and school.
A Sweet Conclusion to a Spiritual Morning
The event concluded with the distribution of Kadha Prasad, a sacred sweet symbolising unity and gratitude. As the children received the Prasad, they were also reminded of the importance of mindfulness and gratitude — appreciating the blessings they have while spreading joy to others.

Such celebrations at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park are more than cultural observances; they are meaningful learning experiences that nurture empathy and moral development. By introducing students to India’s diverse traditions at a young age, the school instills in them the values of inclusivity, respect, and spiritual awareness — qualities that form the foundation of character and good citizenship.
The Gurupurab celebration thus became a memorable and soulful event — one that left the tiny tots with smiles on their faces and Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings in their hearts.
