Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, was awash with the colours of patriotism as the entire school community came together to mark India’s Independence Day through a week-long series of activities and celebrations. The programme was infused with enthusiasm, pride, and a deep sense of respect for the nation’s glorious history, ensuring that students not only enjoyed the festivities but also imbibed valuable lessons on citizenship and heritage.
One of the highlights of the celebrations was the Fancy Dress Activity held on recently for the students of Classes Nursery to II. This engaging event provided a platform for the youngest learners to express their love for the nation through vibrant costumes and heartfelt performances.

The tiny tots arrived dressed as iconic national leaders, freedom fighters, soldiers, and symbolic figures representing India’s rich cultural heritage. The school grounds saw Mahatma Gandhi with his walking stick, a fierce Rani Lakshmibai ready for battle, a spirited Bhagat Singh raising slogans for freedom, and Bharat Mata draped in the tricolour, blessing her children. Young jawans stood tall in their uniforms, symbolising the bravery and commitment of India’s armed forces.

Each performance was more than just an adorable spectacle. Students confidently delivered short dialogues, shared historical anecdotes, and displayed mannerisms matching their chosen personalities, making the event both entertaining and educational. Teachers and parents worked together to ensure that every child understood the significance of the character they were portraying, turning the activity into a meaningful learning experience.

The school premises were decked up with tricolour balloons, fluttering flags, and inspirational banners. The vibrant decorations set the tone for the occasion, while the sound of patriotic songs filled the air. The cheering of classmates, parents, and teachers created a heart-warming atmosphere of unity and pride.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr Vineet Vasishtha lauded the enthusiasm of the young participants and acknowledged the efforts of the teachers and parents in preparing them for the event. He underlined the importance of instilling patriotism at an early age, stating that it is the foundation for developing responsible and compassionate citizens who value their country’s ideals.

Dr Vasishtha further emphasised the joy of Independence Day by saying, “I am immensely proud of our young students for their spirited participation in the Fancy Dress Activity. It was heart-warming to witness their love for the nation through such creative expression. I commend the efforts of teachers and parents in making this event meaningful. Let us continue to nurture in our children a deep respect for our country’s values and heroes. Jai Hind!”
The Fancy Dress Activity stood out as a celebration of freedom that went beyond festivity. It fostered values of unity, pride, and gratitude among the children while deepening their understanding of India’s freedom struggle. For Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, the event was not merely a prelude to Independence Day — it was a reminder of the sacrifices that built the nation and the responsibility that lies ahead in shaping its future.
