Science begins with curiosity — that irresistible urge to ask why and how. For young learners, the first peek through a microscope is like stepping into a new universe. What seems invisible to the naked eye suddenly becomes a world of movement, colour, and life. Through science, children learn to look closer, think deeper, and see beyond the surface of things. Every discovery, no matter how small, teaches them to appreciate the workings of nature — from the stars above to the leaves below. It nurtures a mindset that questions, explores, and marvels at the miracles hidden in everyday life.
A Close Look at Nature’s Breath
Class 3 students of Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar had an exciting adventure in the Biology Lab as they explored the fascinating world of stomata — the tiny pores on the underside of leaves through which plants breathe! For many, it was their first time stepping into a laboratory and using a real microscope, and the sense of wonder was palpable.

Through the Microscope: A New World Awaits
With slides prepared carefully under the guidance of their teachers, the young learners leaned in to observe. As they adjusted the lenses, a once-invisible world came alive before their eyes. They could see the minute pores that help plants exchange gases — tiny doorways of life. The air buzzed with excitement as students took turns to observe and exclaim over what they saw.
Curiosity Blossoms into Learning
The activity not only introduced students to plant respiration but also sparked their love for exploration. They asked questions, shared observations, and connected what they saw with what they had read in class. It was science in its purest form — learning through discovery.

Where Wonder Meets Wisdom
By the end of the session, the students carried home more than just facts about stomata — they carried a sense of awe for the natural world. The experience reminded everyone that the heart of science lies not just in finding answers but in nurturing curiosity. For these young explorers, the microscopic world had opened wide — and so had their minds.
