“Healthy eating is a way of life, not a one-day event.”
Recently, Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, organised an engaging and educational ‘cooking without fire’ activity for the tiny tots of the Pre-primary wing. The initiative was thoughtfully designed to introduce young learners to the importance of healthy eating habits while nurturing creativity, confidence, and essential life skills at an early age.
The school campus came alive with excitement as the little participants arrived, accompanied by their parents, carrying colourful and neatly arranged ingredients. Dressed in tiny aprons and wearing bright smiles, the children enthusiastically took part in preparing simple yet nutritious dishes such as sandwiches and bhelpuri. With gentle guidance from teachers, the students mixed, assembled, and decorated their dishes independently, displaying commendable coordination and enthusiasm.

The primary objective of the activity was to promote the message ‘say no to junk food, eat healthy’. Through interactive discussions and hands-on demonstrations, teachers explained the benefits of consuming fresh fruits, vegetables, and homemade food in a child-friendly and engaging manner. The activity helped children understand how healthy food contributes to their overall growth, energy, and well-being.
Beyond nutrition awareness, the event served as a valuable learning experience by enhancing fine motor skills, improving food-related vocabulary, and encouraging social interaction. As students shared ingredients and exchanged ideas, they also developed teamwork and communication skills in a joyful and stress-free environment.

The activity was appreciated by the school Principal, Dr Vineet Vasishtha, who applauded the school’s initiative to inculcate healthy lifestyle habits from a young age. He lauded the enthusiasm of the children and the dedicated efforts of the teachers in making learning both meaningful and enjoyable. “Activities like cooking without fire play a vital role in the holistic development of our young learners. We believe that early exposure to healthy habits shapes responsible and aware individuals of tomorrow. I appreciate the efforts of our teachers, parents, and students in making this activity a success.”

Overall, the activity was a resounding success, leaving the tiny tots with a sense of achievement and memorable learning moments that extended well beyond the classroom.
