Timeless Guardian

A hush falls upon the world, and all seek repose.
We salute you, O Mother Nature, for your timeless might,
Whose grace shelters every child, from the seed to the rose.

And they add a fresh, new leaf
To the shaggy old forms of me and you.

You keep a natural alarm clock,
That sets all creatures in line,
So unlike us scattered humans
Who follow different ‘standard times.’

Every morning as the great sun rises,
It shines in your arms like a lake full of gold.
As the Coromandel fishers begin their hunt,
The morning birds start their welcoming chant.

When the sun dips low and the moon takes the night.
