
Recently, Apeejay School, Kharghar celebrated a great victory for their talented boxing contingent at the CBSE Zone II Boxing Competition. The talented, determined, and in harmony with one another, these students went on to secure a total of six medals — five Bronze and one Silver medal — out of 10 participating athletes. These are the achievements that bring to the fore the hard work and fighting spirit among students and their mentor, Devendra Aswal, PGT, Physical Education, whose mentoring was quintessential in their success.
In the highly contested Under-17 Boys category, two of the school’s young boxers gave commendable performances. Rushat Pawade (44-46 kg) and Aryaman Negi (50-52 kg) won a Bronze Medal each by showing strength, resilience, and fighting spirit. Full of determination, they managed their way through tiring matches, and this Bronze medal is a testimony to their hard work.
In the Under-19 Boys, the boxers once again proved their mettle, with three Bronze medals coming from Lance Fernandes (54-57 kg), Kshrugal Shelke (60-64 kg), and Abir Moraiya (70-75 kg). These athletes showed a lot of grit and determination in overcoming some stiff competition to make their mark. First and foremost, their efforts reflect not just individual skill but team spirit and perseverance.
Also, in the Under-19 category, Anirudh Kolhekar put up a great show in the 57-60 kg and won a Silver medal. He applied himself to the call of boxing discipline with utmost sincerity. Highly talented, this truly deserving Silver medal pays off all his efforts, promising much for the future.
Special Award for the ‘Best Promising Boxer’
Among all the achievements in the competition, Abir Moraiya was the one who caught everybody’s attention by winning the ‘Best Promising Boxer’ title. This title indicates not only his performance in the competition but also the great potential which he has developed since the beginning of his career in boxing. Abir had discipline, sportsmanship, and passion for the sport, which separated him from others and made him a star to watch out for in the years to come.
The overall performance of the boxing team in the CBSE Zone II Boxing Competition has brought pride to the entire school fraternity of Apeejay School, Kharghar. This achievement encourages not only the young boxers but all students to strive for perfection in every sphere, be it sports, academics, or extracurricular activities.
