In an exciting display of environmental consciousness, the students of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, reflected a commitment to sustainability through two inspiring events. As the world faces urgent environmental challenges, these young minds came forth and began to take commitment into action within the walls of the school.

The activities began in the classroom with discussions about hygiene and how this hygiene plays a crucial role in health improvement or worsening. In the discussion, students learnt that having a clean environment was not only for aesthetic purposes but also for the general wellness of our planet. During this dialogue, an interactive hands-on activity was conducted with the students by instructing them to clean up their surroundings and create educational posters.

The posters focused on the 3Rs: Reduce, reuse, and recycle. More than aesthetically pleasing artwork, slogans and messages served as a powerful reminder of small steps that each one could take toward being more sustainable. It was not merely an exercise but showcased great teamwork exercise by teaching the value of teamwork in achieving a common goal. The students were left with a renewed commitment to cleanliness and sustainability.

Creative Expression: Inspiring Change

Meanwhile, class 1 – D students were the centre of attention for an assembly titled Reduce, Reuse, Recycle & Save the Ocean from Plastic. The students enacted a play wherein they dressed up as ocean animals plagued by plastic pollution making it a poignant commentary to the present scenario.

According to Ms Rachna Jain, Pre-primary Coordinator, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, the theme of the assembly 3Rs — Reduce, Reuse and Recycle — was consciously chosen to create awareness about sustainability and the environment. “Through such assemblies, the young learners are sensitized about caring for the environment and following the principles of reducing, reuse and recycling in their daily life,” the educator shared.

Through acting, they brought to light the devastation plastic causes to marine life and urged the audience to take up their game about sustainability. The climax left nothing unstated: Every little bit counts in the battle against plastic pollution. It ended with an electric finale dance that not only entertained the audience but also energised them to pro-actively be stewards toward environmental protection.

Overall, this initiative by children and teachers of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park was appreciated by the parents. Through educational discussions, creative expression, and active participation, the students demonstrated that change begins with awareness and commitment. These events not only educated but also inspired all participants to be relentless in their pursuit of a cleaner, greener world.
