Every parent dreams of giving their child the brightest future and to fulfil this dream, a school also holds the prime importance. A strong, healthy and scholastic foundation assures a holistic growth of a child, feels Shikha Pasrija whose twins, Prayaan and Prisha Chitra are studying in nursery at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park.
In a candid interview, Pasrija shares that her kids have already learnt how to manage their uniform and pack their bags.
Q. Why did you select Apeejay as an admission choice?

First and foremost it’s about the great reputation this school holds. My husband’s friends are also alumni from Apeejay and they gave us good reviews about this school.
Q. What kind of facilities does the school offer?
The school boasts of state of the art facilities. Its skating rink and the swimming pool facilities are top class. Both my kids are looking forward to learning these skills from class KG onwards. Even education wise, Apeejay has an edge over the other schools.
Q. What kind of changes has the school brought in your kids?
It’s been eight months that my twins started going to the school and they are extremely happy to do so. The school has also helped them develop a healthy routine. They have also learnt how to greet a person and have become more expressive. The school emphasises on speaking in English which has helped my children pick up the command over the language.
Q. What kind of extracurricular activities do your children enjoy?

The teachers here make extra effort in removing stage fear amongst children. They do this by inducting children into various speaking activities like presenting your thoughts, how to address assembly forums and similar things. There was also candle making activity along with decorating diyas organised recently on the eve of Gurupurab in the school. My children have become very comfortable after participating in such activities.
Q. Your comments on the teachers at this school.
Both my children are taken care of by a wonderful set of teachers. They are interactive and give me regular feedback about my kids and are very easily approachable and this helps me understand my kids a lot.
Q. Any best techniques used by the teachers here?

Subject wise both my children enjoy Maths and English. Teachers here use a lot of clay modelling to help students learn faster. My kids enjoy forming digits out of colourful clay and through educational drawings along with art and craft activities. My son especially enjoys activities which are conducted outside the classroom like jumping and dancing to form numbers and my daughter loves to write numbers using atta (wheat flour) and sooji (semolina). I have not seen such an approach to teaching in any other school.
Q. How much do you agree to adage – school is the second home for a child?
I totally resonate with this thought. Since my kids are so young they are taken care of really well especially by the caretakers (didis) inside the school. None of my kids are ever neglected and if by chance during play if my child gets hurt, the didis ensure that they receive proper first aid treatment.
