
As a commitment to social services, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPS) at Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Sohna (Gurugram) recently organised a health camp “Health for All: Mega Check up camp & Vaccination Awareness.
This was held in collaboration with Rotary Club of Delhi Shine. The event featured an insightful awareness session at Apejay Stya University (ASU) conducted by Dr. Rishab Kumar, Senior Consultant – Radiation Oncology, from Amrita Hospital. The session focused on cancer, its prevention, and management strategies thereby providing students with an opportunity to learn about cancer, related medications, and available vaccinations.
Dr. Kumar emphasised “Cancer is a curable disease when timely and appropriate treatment is administered.” The session was a commendable effort to spread knowledge and raise awareness about strategies to combat cancer with vaccines and medicines. It further reinforced the critical role of pharmacists in promoting health and vaccination advocacy, aligning with the theme of National Pharmacy Week 2025.
This event was complemented by a mega health camp organized in association with the Rotary Club and Artemis Hospital. The camp was open to all students, faculty members, and staff, irrespective of age, within the university campus. It featured comprehensive health check-ups conducted by trained and experienced physicians, along with free medicine distribution by two renowned pharmaceutical companies: Aimil Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. and Nestor Pharmaceuticals.
The health camp included a wide range of diagnostic tests such as blood sugar, blood pressure, haemoglobin, audiometry, pulmonary function test (PFT), bone density analysis, and ECG, providing participants with a valuable and well-organized healthcare experience.
The health camp served as a significant step toward promoting wellness and preventive healthcare within the academic community. Such initiatives not only enhance health awareness but also strengthen the university’s commitment to social responsibility and community well-being. All the beneficiary tests were conducted to make an early diagnosis possible and more than 200 personnels got benefitted from the health camp.
Heartfelt gratitude was extended to the Secretory, Rtn. Mohit Tomar, Club Mentor, Rtn. Praveen Bhargav and all the organisers of Rotary Club of Delhi Shine for such a grand social initiative with ASU. The event concluded with the felicitation led by Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Registrar of ASU.
The health camp to all staff and students with free health check-up during National Pharmacy Week was significant milestones for ASU. These initiatives not only enhanced awareness about vaccination advocacy and health but also strengthened the university’s commitment to healthcare education, research, and community well-being. Such programs empower students to become responsible pharmacists and contribute meaningfully to the healthcare sector.
