Parents in India value good education since it secures a progressive career for their child. Hence, choosing the right school is of utmost importance for most parents. They leave no stone unturned in their search which includes Internet research and recommendations from family and friends. Apeejay Education is a brand name that almost everyone living in Jalandhar is aware of.

Therefore, Vinay Vashisth, father of Yoogesh, a student of LKG studying at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg chose this school for his son. In an impromptu interview, the father shares how his son loves to spend most of his time playing outdoor games with his friends.

Excerpts from the interview:

Why did you choose this school for your son?

While I was searching for an ideal school for my son, I researched a lot. I selected Apeejay as it provides a comprehensive education to all the students. The school follows an activity-oriented curriculum. They give equal weightage to studies as well as motivate students to indulge in extracurricular activities. This curriculum helps children to identify their talents and take a lead in any art they wish to follow, whether it be dancing, singing, sports, or more.

Is Yoogesh involved in any extracurricular activities?

As mentioned above, I truly believe that it is essential for a student to introspect his hidden talents along with his ongoing studies. For the same, he has been active in taking part in the annual functions being held at the school.

Are PTMs held regularly?

Due to my job, I have recently relocated to Delhi. So, the PTMs are attended by Yoogesh’s mother – Ekta. She is very active in attending regular parent meetings held at the school. However, I always get feedback about his performance at school from my wife. The teachers always have encouraging words to say about my son.

Are there any notable changes in his behaviour ever since he joined Apeejay?

I abide by the values he has learnt in Apeejay School. Over a tenure of a few months, I have seen certain good attributes. He has become obedient and follows all the given instructions. Moreover, he knows that he has to respect his mentors. He has now become more active as he intends to take an interest in different activities like studying on his own and playing sports. He doesn’t take anything as a burden, rather he enjoys being part of different activities.

How do you work on his strengths?

For his improvement, we help him identify his strengths and weaknesses. For instance, if he is strong in English and lags a bit in Math, we make him understand and encourage him with the fact that if you are good at English and you work a little harder, you can excel in Math too. That’s how he learns time management. We also advise him to devote more time to Math since he is already good at English.

How do you balance your child’s screen time managing school homework?

In this case, I think we are winning. My son has a timetable set for his entire day post-school. We do not allow him to use any gadget for more than 30 minutes in a day. Moreover, he enjoys playing outside rather than spending time on his gadgets. We help him to be more active in playing sports, reading books, and getting proper rest.
