The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has conferred the ATL School of the Month for October 2024 to Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg. This is because the school works hard to encourage innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning in its students. The award was conferred based on various innovative activities conducted by the students under the ATL programme at the school. Their active participation, guided by committed teachers and supported by the school administration, has created a vibrant learning environment where creativity thrives.

This prestigious ATL certificate is a moment of immense pride for the entire school community. The certificate is a symbol of the school’s unwavering commitment to excellence in education and fostering innovation. With continued dedication, the school aims to inspire and empower young minds to become future innovators and leaders.

Speaking about the recognition that the school received, Ms Jyotsna Dhinga, PGT Physics at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, shared that she guides students through projects involving electronics, AI, and mechanical engineering concepts.

“The objective of the ATL labs is to spark curiosity and encourage innovation through hands-on learning among their students. The ATL Lab was established under the flagship of the Government of India’s Atal Innovation Mission. Its primary aim is to nurture creativity and develop problem-solving skills in students by engaging them in innovative projects. We work with components like Arduino, sensors, breadboards, resistors, and LEDs to teach students about electronic circuit design,” the educator, who is also In-charge of the ATL Lab for classes VI to X, said.

The teaching approach integrates practical experiences with theoretical concepts, she stated. “For instance, when students learn about electricity in their class X Physics syllabus, we complement it with real-world applications through projects in the ATL Lab. Students design circuits using components like transistors, diodes, and sensors, gaining hands-on experience,” the teacher who teaches Physics to classes XI and XII explained.

As part of her role, she regularly files monthly reports to the government, documenting all activities conducted in the lab. This includes details about sensors, circuit designs, and projects, along with supporting videos and photographs. These reports contribute to the school’s recognition as an ATL School of the Month. This recognition is a source of immense pride, as our school was the only institution selected from the Jalandhar district. Since the government assesses activity reports from all ATL schools across the country, this achievement is highly competitive and significant.

“The ATL Lab has greatly benefitted students by enhancing their technical skills and inspiring them to innovate. Many students approach voluntarily with project ideas like building a chessboard using Raspberry Pi and Arduino. Their engagement with the lab enriches their resumes and bolsters their academic portfolios, particularly when applying for higher studies in science and technology. The ATL Lab serves as a crucial platform where students develop future-ready skills while fostering a spirit of creativity and innovation,” she said.

Every project in these labs brings the students of Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, step closer to becoming tomorrow’s innovators. The ATL Lab persists in serving as a catalyst for ideas, transforming young minds into future leaders equipped to transform the world.
