Apeejay School, Saket recently hosted an enlightening session titled “Creating Change: Reducing Plastic Waste to Combat Climate Change,” led by Ms Nalini Malik, PGT Home Science and In-Charge of the Interact Club. The event aimed to raise awareness among students of classes 6 and 11 about the significant impact of plastic waste on global climate change and inspire sustainable practices.
Ms. Malik, who recently visited Ontario, Canada, shared valuable insights into effective plastic waste management techniques observed during her visit. The session featured visual examples, including images of clean cities and pristine water bodies, demonstrating the benefits of efficient waste disposal methods. Through these visuals, students gained a clearer understanding of how excessive plastic usage contributes to pollution and its far-reaching environmental consequences.

With climate change posing a serious threat globally, the need for action has become more urgent than ever. Plastic waste is one of the major contributors to environmental degradation, affecting everything from marine life to air quality. By addressing these issues, we not only help preserve natural ecosystems but also promote a healthier future for generations to come.
Ms. Malik encouraged the students to reflect on their own habits and explore ways they could reduce plastic consumption in their daily lives. She emphasised the importance of adopting sustainable practices, such as using reusable items, reducing single-use plastics, and promoting waste segregation.
The session left students motivated and inspired to take action. They learned that even small steps, like carrying reusable water bottles or opting for eco-friendly alternatives, could make a significant impact. By fostering a sense of responsibility, the school aims to cultivate environmentally conscious individuals who can contribute to combating climate change at the local level.

Apeejay School, Saket is committed to promoting sustainable initiatives and raising awareness about environmental issues. Events like these are a vital part of the school’s efforts to encourage students to be mindful of their environmental footprint and take meaningful action for a greener future.
