This school embraces cultural heritage with the Hindi Diwas celebration

The corridors of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park were recently abuzz with excitement when the school community came together to observe the Hindi Diwas. The day that was dedicated to the Hindi language was filled with activities. The participants – students and teachers – helped in making the day preserve the language’s cultural tapestry.

The event began with selecting the Hindi idioms, which was both a test and development of linguistic knowledge. The Kavi Sammelan saw young and elderly poets alike present their compositions, letting the real feelings echo the rich literature of Hindi. Heartfelt recitations visibly swayed the concerned audience who were contemplating the soothing depth and beauty of Hindi poetry.

According to Sumit Kaur Goomer, Activity Incharge and Head of Department of Hindi at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, निज भाषा उन्नति अहै, सब उन्नति को मूल; बिन निज भाषा-ज्ञान के, मिटत न हिय को सूल I

“Hindi is not just a language or a means of communication, but also a medium of mutual harmony among Indians. The best way to learn a language is through practice. This means you should practice every day. While practising, ensure that you are using the language extensively, starting with simple sentences and gradually progressing to more complex ones. Learning Hindi is extremely important for children. Children can learn Hindi through consistent practice. We wish for a bright future for the students and hope that they show more interest in learning their national language and work towards strengthening it,” the educator shared.

Learning Points

A thoughtful presentation also shed new light on the importance of Hindi and aroused understanding and appreciation about the language’s role in our cultural as well as historical context. The Principal Ms Surabhi Joshi also requested the parents to encourage interest towards Hindi in their children by introducing them to suitable Hindi publications according to their age groups. She strongly advocated the incorporation of Hindi literature into day-to-day learning while talking about this celebration.

The Vice-principal Ms Vandana Bansal also spoke about how we should respect and celebrate our culture. She further added that celebrations like these strengthen the importance of the language in our educational system as well as our society.

A Community Unified by Language

The event demonstrated the commitment of the school towards linguistic diversity, but above all, a collective sense of pride in the richness of Hindi from the Apeejay family. The day concluded with the deliberation over how such events make us feel a sense of belonging to our national language and, in turn, make it relevant and resonant for generations.
