Positive teacher-student relationships, coupled with effective teaching strategies and a supportive classroom culture, create an environment where students can thrive academically and personally. Moreover, the influence of an efficient teacher extends beyond the classroom, impacting students’ lifelong learning and personal life, expresses Urmila Sharma, mother of Lakshya and Dhriti who are studying in class XII and VII respectively at Apeejay School, Noida.
Excerpts from the interview
How is Lakshya preparing for the upcoming Board exams?
I want to mention that the school has extended extensive support to my son for his Board exams. I am fully satisfied as a parent to see the way my son is being groomed at this school. All the teachers and other staff are making great efforts to keep my son boosted and tension-free for his upcoming exams. I am also watching a few changes in him like he is now spending more hours on self-study. For Dhriti, she is an independent child. Since she is my second child, she has already learnt a lot about things in life so far like daily going to school, taking care of attendance, studying well, and wearing a proper uniform.
How did you select Apeejay as an admission choice?
We belong to Churu district, Rajasthan and since we are not local to Delhi-NCR, when we started asking around for the best schools, the majority advised and suggested this school. And once Lakshya got admitted, I am now extremely happy with my decision. We decided to send Dhriti to the same school, the reason being sibling priority and best academics. Besides, when both children are in the same school, it is beneficial for us in terms of dealing with PTMs and being aware of the school curriculum.
What is your experience with the teachers at this school?
I have had an experience of interacting with teachers across all elementary levels at this school and I would like to say that they are a wonderful lot. Not only for my children, but the teachers guided us with a few tips on how to deal with the kids. Lakshya is my firstborn and the teachers understood the fact it was all new for us as first-time parents so they helped us understand a lot about his growth and holistic development.
How is the balance between co-curricular activities and studies?
There are plenty of extra-curricular activities that the school organises regularly. Both my children actively participate in them. Dhriti likes to enjoy yoga and dance competitions and Lakshya likes to participate in events like annual day and sports day. This way I feel the school has maintained a decent balance.
What kind of positive impact has Apeejay made on your children?
There are a lot of changes in my kids. Lakshya had a big stage phobia when he got admitted into school and today when I see him, he is all over the place as a confident young man. He has imbibed leadership qualities and has become more sociable.
How much do you agree with the adage- that school is the second home for a child?
I agree with this statement, after all a child who leaves the house in the morning spends close to eight hours at school. Hence it is obvious that the teachers at the school including the peer group and other staff have a marked influence and effect on a child’s personality and thought process.
