Teej, a significant festival in Punjab and other parts of North India marks the onset of the monsoon season. It is traditionally celebrated by women who gather to perform folk dances, sing boliyaan (traditional folk songs), and enjoy various festivities that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the region. The festival symbolises the joy of the season and is often associated with rituals that pray for marital bliss and the well-being of families.
Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Model Town, Jalandhar, recently celebrated the vibrant festival of Teej with great enthusiasm. Known as Teeeyan Da Mela, the event was a joyful occasion that brought together the students, their mothers, and the school community to celebrate the essence of Punjabi culture.
On this auspicious day, the mothers of Apeejay students were invited to join their children in the celebrations. The event featured an array of cultural activities, including spirited performances of giddha and bhangra, where both the kids and their mothers danced to the lively beats of Punjabi music. The highlight of the event was the ramp walk, where the participants showcased their traditional attire, adding to the festive spirit of the day.









The event was also graced by the presence of Mrs Sakshi Aggarwal, the owner of Funtree Activity Centre and Pre-school, who served as the Guest of Honour. Additionally, Mr Jasdeep Singh Panesar, a coach at Funtree Activity Centre and a member of the Khalsa College Bhangra team, conducted an invigorating bhangra workshop with his team, captivating the audience with their energetic performance.
Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor Apeejay Stya University and Chairman, Apeejay Education, has always emphasised the importance of inculcating cultural values in young minds. She believes that such celebrations help children develop a deep respect for Indian traditions and culture.
The event was a testament to this vision, with Mrs Priyanka Grover, the Officiating Principal of Apeejay School Model Town, expressing her appreciation for the mothers who participated with zeal and enthusiasm. Ms Nidhi Ghai, Headmistress Rhythms Kinderworld, and other teachers also played a significant role in making the event a grand success.
The celebration concluded with the serving of traditional Punjabi desserts, malpua and kheer, which were enjoyed by all, leaving everyone with sweet memories of the day.
