This parent hadn’t had any intentions of sending their child to kindergarten before she turned three. But since their daughter is extremely social and thrives on interaction, keeping her at home started to feel limiting. That’s when they began exploring schools. Meet Swati Singh Sambyal, whose daughter, Ira, is at Apeejay Rhythms, GK-II.
“What helped us decide was the overall environment, which felt secure, yet engaging. At my daughter’s age, it wasn’t so much about academics; it was more about social interaction and emotional development. We wanted a place where she could grow socially, interact with peers, and just be happy,” shared the mother.
How has Ira grown since joining the school — emotionally, socially, or creatively?
There’s been a big shift in her speech clarity and social interactions. Earlier, she would speak in gibberish; now her diction is clear and confident. She’s always been high on emotional intelligence, and I’m glad the school has nurtured that. She’s kind, shares easily, and enjoys the rhymes she learns — she even plays them before bedtime.
Any particular moment that reflected the school’s impact?
She loves school so much that she wakes up excited, picks her dress the night before, and never throws tantrums. For us as working parents, that’s everything. Sometimes it’s hard to get her back home — she just doesn’t want to leave!
How did you zero in on this kindergarten?
It was the first one we visited and the only one. Ira came along that day and instantly took to the environment. We also connected well with the Principal and the teachers. The space felt secure yet stimulating, ideal for a child to grow socially. Since both of us are environmental professionals, we also appreciated the school’s consciousness around plastic and sustainability.
How do you manage parenting alongside demanding careers?
I work in waste and circular economy for a Norwegian government entity, and my husband works with the German government’s cooperation with India. Despite our schedules, we’re very hands-on with Ira—from bedtime to outdoor play.
We also expose her to our values. She travels with us often, even on work trips, and has become highly adaptable. She understands simple environmental concepts like waste segregation and loves playing with plants and mud.
If Apeejay Rhythms were a colour or feeling, how would you describe it?
The colour yellow radiates joy. The school brings so much happiness into Ira’s life. Every visit reaffirms that warmth, energy, and positivity.
