In today’s scenario, everyone is in constant stress as every second is a testing moment, and running hands of the clock remind us that we have to run and bear loads of responsibilities and live up to expectations.

Thus, to help students learn to cope with the stress they face during exams and any unwanted situation, Apeejay School Kharghar recently organised a workshop for classes 10 and 12.

Dr. Shilpa Siddhesh Parhar, Consultant Psychiatrist, was the key resource person for the session. Dr Parhar has a special interest in women and child psychiatry and has been conducting various awareness programmes for mental health and stress management for students, police and general public in Raigad.

The session began with the felicitation of the guest by Mrs. Tejaswini S. Katdare, Principal of Apeejay School, Kharghar. Further, Dr Parhar addressed the students and explained that stress and anxiety are an integral part of human nature, and it is imperative to know how to deal with them as well as ultimately overcome them.

The main highlights of the seminar included creating awareness around various types of stress faced by teenagers, stress relaxation therapy and different stress management techniques. She explained, “Stress can be good or bad, but it is our attitude that decides how we tackle with it.”

Answering the queries of the students, she mentioned that it is very important to vent out one’s feelings in front of the person who could give them the best guidance instead of keeping the knots in the mind.

The seminar concluded with big smiles on the faces of students and with a promise to deal with stress in a positive way.

“Apeejay School Kharghar always strives to help students strike a balance between academics and co-curricular activities. It is a gap between expectations and reality that gives rise to stress. Teachers are always ready to help students to overcome this gap and be stress-free in school.”
