Stepping confidently into the corporate world, Apeejay School of Management (ASM) alumnus Gaurav Rewari, Batch of 2025 (Finance & Marketing), has secured a key role as Branch Operational Officer at Canfin. In this insightful interaction, Gaurav elaborates on his transformational MBA journey — from developing professional communication skills to gaining financial expertise through real-world learning.

Read edited excerpts:

How has your ASM experience shaped your personality and professional readiness?

ASM has played a vital role in preparing me for the real corporate environment. What really stood out was the emphasis on two-way communication — whether through class presentations, group assignments or leadership roles within teams. We weren’t just completing tasks; we were learning to own responsibilities, collaborate effectively and express our ideas clearly. This helped me gain clarity about workplace culture, expectations and decision-making.

What kind of internship experience did you gain while pursuing MBA at ASM?

I interned with Dimora Hotels and Resorts, where I worked primarily in sales and interacted with high-net-worth clients. It gave me real exposure — meeting people, understanding their requirements, and presenting options suited to their lifestyle. There were also elements of finance involved, which helped me bridge what I studied in class with real business scenarios.

Did ASM help you build strong technical and financial skills?

Absolutely! Before joining ASM, I had never studied finance. But here, I not only learned financial accounting but also concepts like investment strategies, portfolio management, and even financial modelling. These sessions helped me gain confidence to explore opportunities in investment planning and take informed decisions today in my role.

Can you share a memorable classroom experience or project?

My best memories are definitely from the finance classrooms. The teaching methods were practical, interactive and exciting — not just theory. The approach made us feel like finance isn’t difficult; it just needs the right understanding. The passionate and engaging class environment is something I’ll always carry with me.

What’s your message to current and aspiring ASM students?

Make use of every opportunity — speak up, network, and learn from teamwork. ASM provides the right platform; it’s up to you to grow from it. The journey may seem challenging, but it truly shapes you for success in the professional world.
