This Apeejay School, Model Town child is painting heart’s red with Dance and Dhol

Aabhav, a class 4 student at Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, is a budding artist and a lively dancer. His Bhangra moves and dhol-playing skills have already made him a local sensation. Selected as this week’s Apeejay Aspiring Artist, Aabhav shares his thoughts on art, dance, and how his school nurtures his creative talents to the best level possible.

Aabhav, how old were you when you started drawing?
I started drawing at 4 years old!

And which art form is your favourite and why?
Poster making is my favourite because it lets me be creative with ideas and creative colouring techniques.

So, how does your school support your artistic journey?
The school organises different activities, talent shows, and appreciates our hard work. It motivates me to do better. These events provide a platform to the artist within me.

Art or Dance—what’s your true passion?
Definitely dance! Dance connects me to the audience and vice versa in a very unique way. The energy level in a dance performance is something else.

Excellent but coming back to art, how long does it take you to complete an artwork?
It takes me about 2–3 hours, depending on the complexity. My themes are usually fun and colourful, but it depends on what I’m creating.

Are you working on any artwork at present?
Not yet! I haven’t thought of a new drawing yet.

Is there any new art form you’d like to learn?
I’d love to learn music, especially the piano. Music also connects people in a very special way.

Tell us about your dance journey?
I’ve been dancing since I was 3 years old, all self-taught. I take part in every dance activity, and my Bhangra and dhol-playing have been especially appreciated—it feels like a gift!
