She is on the verge of hitting the bull’s eye by catching the nerve of the market economy. Her skill set includes analysis of business practices, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending strategic solutions to help organisations improve performance, solve challenges, and achieve growth. Meet Varalika Singh from the batch of 2023 of Apeejay International School, Greater Noida. In a candid interview, she walks down her memory lane and reminisces about her good old alma mater days.

What are you pursuing now after school?

After school, I chose to pursue a degree in management. Alongside that, I founded a consulting start-up called Architsu, which focuses on data analysis, business solutions, and strategy development. I’m also currently preparing for the CAT exam to secure a spot at one of India’s top IIMs with a strong focus on IIM Ahmedabad.

How is consultancy as a profession trending in the market today?

Consulting is thriving and evolving rapidly. With businesses facing complex challenges and a fast-changing digital landscape, the demand for strategic thinkers and problem solvers is only growing. Whether it’s management, technology, or data-driven consulting, the field offers immense growth, flexibility, and learning opportunities.

Tell us more about opportunities in consulting.

Consulting opens doors to almost every industry: Finance, healthcare, tech, education, and even government sectors. For students, internships, case competitions, and even freelance gigs help build a portfolio. Once you’re in, it’s a career that allows you to work with top-tier companies, tackle real-world problems, and build a global professional network.

Any advice for management-aspiring students?

Start early. Explore your interests, develop analytical and communication skills, and stay curious. Read case studies, participate in competitions, and don’t be afraid to take initiative — whether it’s a college club, a passion project, or a start-up. Consistency and the right guidance can truly shape your journey in management.

How were the teachers at the school?

During my time, the teachers I had played important roles in my life. They seemed like this other family I had built alongside my friends. They supported not just our academics but also our personal growth, and that kind of mentorship stays with you long after you’ve graduated.

Share your favourite nostalgia from school.

The school trip in VII grade to Jim Corbett is a memory I’ll always hold close. From the bus rides filled with laughter to the jungle safari adventures and bonfire nights — it was a perfect mix of fun, freedom, and bonding. That trip felt like magic, and it’s something I’ll never forget.

Any message for students of the school?

Make the most of your time here. Learn, explore, fail, try again — this is the best place to discover what excites you. And remember, success isn’t a straight line. Trust your journey, stay kind, stay curious, and most importantly, stay true to yourself.
