Nekfateh, a class 1 student at Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, has already established himself as a cycling wonder. At just 6 years old, he recently participated in his third cycle event – Cyclothon 4.0, organised by the Rotary Club of Jalandhar- Helping Hands. The wonderboy cycled an impressive 10 km, with even the school Principal Ms. Priyanka Grover, applauding the incredible feat by stating, “It is indeed astonishing! Students at Apeejay School Model Town, Jalandhar, are prepared to conquer the skies, we are proud of Nekfateh!”

Let us then learn more from the young champ about this remarkable achievement.

Nekfateh, this was your third Cyclothon! How much did you cycle?
I cycled 10 km in the event, and then I even cycled back home, so that makes it 12 km!

Astonishing! Most kids your age are still practicing with training wheels. Do you use any support wheels?
Nekfateh’s Mother: No, there are no training wheels or support on his bike. It’s a proper two-wheeled cycle, and he’s already a pro at handling it.

But champ didn’t you feel tired during the ride?
Nekfateh: Not at all! I took two short breaks, about two minutes each, and then I just kept going.

How often do you practice cycling?
Nekfateh’s Mother: He cycles every evening and does about 20-30 rounds of the colony. It’s his daily routine.

And does he follow a special diet to stay strong?
Nekfateh’s Mother: Yes, his father, Mr. Navtej Singh, who is a Mr. World in bodybuilding, keeps a close eye on his diet. Nekfateh eats healthy foods like oats, without extra salt or sugar, and has inherited his father’s strong genetics.

So Nekfateh, what inspired you to start cycling?
Nekfateh: My school teacher, Maninder madam! She is a big fan of fitness and cycling. I saw her cycling and felt inspired. She encourages me a lot.

And are you preparing for any upcoming races?
Nekfateh: Yes! There’s another race on December 5, and I’m practicing hard for it.
