Moral Science may appear to be boring at first glance. But this Science truly pays back in life. From guiding us in dilemmas, to helping us regain our confidence and self-esteem, the wisdom embedded in these age-old stories truly navigates us through the complex situations in life. In an age where students consume different types of content on the internet and face unique emotional crises and moral dilemmas, it is essential that they realise that much of these challenges can be effectively addressed if one goes back to the ancient folk tales.
Take for example the Thirsty Crow story. This is a classic fable about intelligence and perseverance that has guided people through centuries. The story goes like this:
On a hot summer day, a thirsty crow was searching for water. After flying for a long time, he finally spotted a tall pitcher with a little water at the bottom. However, the water level was too low for him to reach. The clever crow thought for a moment and came up with an idea. He picked up small pebbles one by one and dropped them into the pitcher. As more pebbles went in, the water level rose until it was high enough for the crow to drink. Satisfied, the crow quenched his thirst and flew away.
Mrs Guneeta Sharma, P.R.T at Apeejay School, Pitampura says, “In difficult situations, do not panic or give up. Instead, be like the thirsty crow—calm, patient, and resourceful. Just as the crow used its intelligence to solve a problem and quench its thirst.” The teacher further highlighted, “Remember students! We can find all solutions when faced with challenges. Stay composed, think creatively, and take small but steady steps toward your goal. Every problem has a solution if you approach it with a clear mind and determination.”
