Apeejay School, Kharghar is proud to spotlight its shining stars from Class 7 who have shown outstanding academic excellence in the 2024–25 session. Scoring well over 95%, these young achievers credit their success to discipline, family support, and an innate curiosity for learning. We spoke to three of the performers – Ruhi Sengupta, Ashmita Banerjee, and Arsh Sunil Chourasia – to understand what keeps them motivated, how they balance academics with hobbies, and their advice to juniors.
Ruhi Sengupta – 99.45%
With an impressive score of 99.45%, Ruhi Sengupta is a name to remember. Currently in Class 8, Ruhi says her secret lies in staying consistent and seeking support. “My parents and teachers also played a huge role. Whenever I had doubts, they were always there for me,” she shared.
What sets Ruhi apart is her balanced approach. “I study only as much as I feel like, then take a walk to refresh my mind. I try to enjoy my studies,” she added. In her free time, Ruhi enjoys writing poetry, reading storybooks, painting, and cycling. Her revision method is structured – first understanding the chapters, then writing notes and revising them thoroughly. Passionate about science, she dreams of becoming a doctor. “I want to help people and remove all illnesses in this world.”
Arsh Sunil Chourasia – 96%
Another topper from the batch, Arsh Sunil Chourasia scored 96% and swears by a planned routine. “I follow a daily plan that includes time for TV, PC games, table tennis, cycling and swimming. I study for only 2–3 hours, but during that time, I’m fully focused,” he said.
Arsh believes understanding concepts is key. “If you understand the ‘why’ behind a topic, it becomes interesting. I don’t attend coaching classes – I rely on my textbooks and teachers’ notes. My mother helps me plan my week, and my father encourages me to pursue sports and teaches me financial concepts,” he said. His message for juniors? “Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Stay curious and explore.”
Ashmita Banerjee – 97.075%
Scoring 97.075%, Ashmita Banerjee believes discipline is her superpower. “I manage time well – I finish all my homework as soon as I get home, which gives me more time for studies and my classical dance practice,” said the talented Kathak dancer, who is also a regular at national competitions.
“My parents are my biggest cheerleaders and my teachers are very approachable. Even outside school hours, they help me when I need them,” she added. Her exam prep strategy is clear: begin with textbooks to strengthen concepts before moving on to notes. Her tip to juniors? “Stick to a routine, avoid wasting time, and stay away from gadgets.”
