Captain Mohit Misri still carries fond memories of his time at Apeejay School, Saket. Today, as a Senior Captain with Indigo Airlines flying across India, he reflects on the friendships, discipline, and activities at Apeejay that helped form the steady, grounded personality required in aviation—and in life.

What memories stand out from your Apeejay Saket days?

All of them are good memories and I’m still in touch with friends I made during those years. It’s a school that gave me a warm, supportive start.

Were the teachers and staff supportive during your time there?

Absolutely! The teachers were wonderful, and even the support staff left a lasting impression. They really shaped our learning environment and made it a nurturing space.

Did you discover your interest in aviation while at school?

Not exactly, those were formative years. But the academic and cultural environment at Apeejay definitely gave me a strong foundation. That discipline helped when I eventually chose aviation later in life.

Which subjects or activities did you enjoy the most in school?

I loved playing basketball and volleyball. Sports were a big part of my school life, and looking back, that physical activity helped build endurance, which is essential in my career today.

How important is fitness in your profession, and what advice would you give students?

It’s extremely important. We undergo annual medicals, and everything depends on your health. A balanced diet and 30–45 minutes of exercise daily—if started young—can make a huge difference. Physical fitness isn’t just for athletes; it’s crucial for pilots too.

What role did Apeejay Saket play in shaping who you are today?

It laid the foundation—discipline, values, social skills, all came from there. I carry those learnings with me even today, both in the cockpit and in life.

What’s your advice to students at Apeejay who dream of high-flying careers?

Dream big, but be consistent. Whether you want to become a pilot or something else entirely, focus on academics, fitness, and mental calm. Apeejay will give you the base—it’s up to you to build on it.
