Apeejay School, Kharghar has always been recognised for its excellence in education and holistic development of students. Apeejay Newsroom had the pleasure of speaking with Mrs. Renu, a dedicated maths teacher at Apeejay, and mother of Riddhima Shankar, a student of Class 11th. Read her insights on why she chose Apeejay for her daughter and how the school has positively impacted Riddhima’s academic and personal growth.
Why did you choose Apeejay School, Kharghar for Riddhima?
I joined Apeejay as a teacher 10 years ago, and I’ve always admired the school’s reputation. Initially, my children didn’t get admission, but when Riddhima reached 6th grade, I decided to shift her here. Now, she is in Class 11th, studying science with biology. The teachers at Apeejay are incredibly motivating, which keeps the children driven to achieve their goals.
How does Riddhima engage with school activities?
Riddhima loves participating in various school activities. She takes part in display board competitions, poster making, class assemblies, and contributes to the school and class magazines. Last year, she won a prize in a poster making competition organised by the Rotary Club. She is very active and always eager to learn new things.
Can you share more about Riddhima’s interests and achievements?
Besides her academic interests, Riddhima is a talented dancer. She performs Bharatanatyam and has participated in school annual days. Her enthusiasm extends to her interactions with teachers, especially in biology, which she chose for her 11th grade because of the inspiring science teachers at Apeejay.
As a teacher and a mother, how do you influence Riddhima’s development?
Being both a teacher and a mother, I believe I have a significant influence on Riddhima’s development. It can be a mix of comfort and pressure for her, given the peer dynamics. However, I think it generally helps her to have me around. The school’s various programs also play a crucial role in guiding her through teenage challenges and peer pressure.
How does Apeejay address the challenges faced by teenagers today?
Apeejay conducts workshops to prepare students for the changes they undergo during adolescence. These workshops help them understand mood swings and feel comfortable discussing issues with teachers and parents. Topics like cyber security and responsible online behaviour are also covered, ensuring students are well-informed and cautious.
What message do you have for other parents and students?
I believe that students should trust in themselves and stay motivated, with the guidance of teachers and parents. Each individual has the potential to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. The power lies within them, and with proper support, they can realise their dreams.
