An old proverb says, “A healthy mind resides in a healthy body”, and this shows the importance of sports and physical activities. Education is a very critical component for the development of the mind and sports play an equally important role in the development of the body and hence the mind.
Sports and physical activities teach us a lot of life values- discipline, team spirit, leadership, and self-control.
One of the means of physical activity is sports. Almost every sport requires us to be physically and mentally fit and active. Some of the field sports like football, hockey, cricket, and athletics require players to be in a very fit condition.
Most of us are physically active during the day but if the same activity is combined with a sport then a fun element is added to it. During our school time, physical activity is all the things that we do by legs or hands -writing is an example of physical activity done by hands whereas jogging is a physical activity done by legs.
Physical activity and sports make us healthy and fit. They also keep us energetic. Sports and physical activity are fun and good for us. Along with all these, a balanced diet is also important. Our body becomes what we eat and hence we must be careful about our diet and choice of food also.
In every sport, it is advised to have a protein meal after playing that sport. This helps in the proper recovery of the body.
My school also takes care of these needs by including physical activities and sports in our school curriculum.
My school ensures a healthy and balanced diet part by not allowing junk food items in the Tiffin.
Sports and physical activities offer careers and means of earning money also. People become successful sportspersons like Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Saniz Mirza, and many more. Physical activity coaches are also much in demand now, as more and more people are becoming health conscious.
Sports offer means and way out of deprivation also. Most of the renowned footballers are from deprived backgrounds. Names like Pele, Maradona, Messi, Baichung come to our mind who came from not-very well-to-do families. But by their sheer hard work and discipline, they made a mark for themselves and inspired hundreds and thousands of children to work hard to realise their dreams.
So, it is a universal truth that Sports and Physical Activities not only keep us fit, and active but change lives also.
Therefore, we should enjoy the sports that we play, because there is something special in all sports.
