Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, prides itself on creating a nurturing and supportive environment for its students. Recently, Apeejay Newsroom had the opportunity to speak with the mother of Neil Nanak Singh (Class 10) and Harmeher Kaur (Class 8), two bright and active students at our school. Here’s what she had to share about their experiences and the impact of the school on their development.

Read edited excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay for your children?

My husband Amrinder and his brother Karanbir are both alumni of Apeejay School. They had a fantastic experience, so there was no second choice for us. We knew Apeejay Mahavir Marg was the right place for our children.

Has Apeejay lived up to your expectations?

Oh, more than that actually. We are very happy with Apeejay. The school has provided a nurturing environment that has significantly contributed to my children’s development. Both Neil and Harmeher are academic prefects for their houses and are doing very well.

How have they benefited from the extracurricular activities offered by Apeejay?

Both of them represent their school in tennis, and my son Neil has also played nationals in chess. The school has excellent facilities and coaches, which have helped them excel in these sports.

How did they develop an interest in tennis and chess?

Apeejay started evening chess classes when Neil was in kindergarten or first grade. The chess coach played a significant role in sparking Neil’s interest. Both children have also pursued tennis passionately, participating in All India Tennis Association tournaments.

How do your children perceive the teachers and the school environment?

The school environment is very supportive. The teachers are approachable and ensure that the children understand their lessons fully. Neil and Harmeher feel comfortable discussing any issues with their teachers, which is reassuring for us as parents.

Can you tell us about their personalities?

Neil is confident, helpful, and well-regarded by his teachers. He received the Stya Paul Award for human values last to last year, which speaks volumes about his character. Harmeher is more introverted but very friendly and helpful. The teachers have been instrumental in helping her come out of her shell, encouraging her to participate and grow.

How does the school involve parents in its activities?

The teachers are always approachable through WhatsApp and phone. I can easily reach out to them, and they respond promptly. This open line of communication makes us feel involved and informed.

What are your thoughts on the quality of education at Apeejay?

The quality of education is excellent. I have no complaints. The school has met all our expectations academically.

Are there any new initiatives at Apeejay that excite you?

I am excited about the Model UN. Neil is on the organising team, and Harmeher will participate. It’s great to see them engaged in such enriching activities.

How does the school support mental and physical health?

The school has excellent support systems in place. The children can discuss any issues with their teachers, who are very approachable. There’s also a psychologist, who regularly interacts with the students, which is very helpful.

What are Neil’s aspirations?

Right now, Neil wants to be a doctor. The school’s supportive environment has given him the confidence to pursue his dreams.
