Usually, parents’ first mandate before zeroing down on any school is to know how well the balance between extracurricular activities along with a well-laid-out scholastic schedule. “I was lucky to find both in a perfectly ordained manner at this school,” expresses Sheuli Chowdhury whose son Rik Roy Chowdhury studies in Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park. She gushes about the fact that Rik could discover a new side to him after learning how to play the flute at this school.
Excerpts from the interview
How is your son prepping up for the upcoming boards?
Rik is a very easygoing person and doesn’t get overworked in different situations. He believes in the notion of ‘will cross the bridge once we get there’. It’s his habit to do that much which is necessary to achieve a certain level. He is enjoying the journey as of now.
Tell us something about his journey in music.
Unfortunately, the teacher who was teaching him flute passed away in 2021. He has learnt whatever he could from that teacher and now practices those tunes on and off. But since the music teacher at school has known him since he was in the primary, he inspires him to a large extent. Rik is naturally blessed also and he picks up different tunes pretty quickly.
How are the teachers at school?
I am very happy with the school since it is very encouraging. It doesn’t believe in putting any undue pressure on children. The teachers have always given positive feedback to my child since nursery. I am extremely thankful to all the teachers at this school.
How did you select Apeejay for admission?
I recall the days when I was looking for the best school for my child. I knew that every school has its own set of rules and regulations so I had to pick one that would suit my criteria. For me, major factors like distance from home, and whether siblings are in the same school, were a few points that I considered before selecting Apeejay. I liked the old school building, it is very open and has huge lawns.
What about the balance between extracurricular activities and studies?
Apeejay encourages extracurricular activities such as music and art. The students are motivated to take part in various cultural activities and that helps in discovering new talents which I feel is a great step towards the holistic development of a child.
How has Rik’s school journey been so far?
My son has been studying in this school since the nursery. He has always been an introvert, so I would often receive this feedback that he needs to socialise more. Gradually I noticed that my son started to open up more and began interacting with other students often. His confidence has bolstered after indulging in various cultural activities at the school and now he looks more stable and moving in the right direction.
