Both school and home environments play crucial roles in shaping a child’s development. They contribute to various aspects of a child’s life, including cognitive, social, emotional, and moral development. “The collaboration between these two environments helps create a well-rounded and balanced foundation for a child’s growth and future success,” shares Shree Dange, whose sons Aditya and Ankur study in class XII and VI respectively at Apeejay School, Noida.

Excerpts from the interview

How did you select Apeejay as an admission choice?

We belong to Pune, Maharashtra but it has been a long time since we shifted to Delhi-NCR. I recall the time when I was looking for an ideal school for Aditya, I visited Apeejay and noticed that the school had a big playground and that was impressive. So we decided to put my sons in that school owing to the beautiful architecture and facilities.

How are the teachers at this school?

The teachers here are top-class. Since my boys study in classes VI and XII, I have come across different teachers from senior to mid to junior level classes. All the teachers are extremely supportive and they believe in empathising with the students. Even between parents and teachers, the communication is proper and adequately followed. I like the staff management so far.

Any comments on the balance between education and extracurricular activities?

Both my sons are fond of extracurricular activities organised at the school. Since my elder son is in XII, his participation is a tad less as compared to before but my younger one is extremely fond of Special Interest Clubs. He has joined several clubs and participates in various activities enthusiastically. His favourite being sculpting classes. Even in studies, Ankur is now able to understand the concepts much better only because of his professionally sound teachers.

Is Aditya under any pressure for Boards this year?

I would like to share that though we were under tremendous pressure and stress, the interactive session the principal took with the parents was very helpful in minimising the stress levels. It was an informative group discussion on how to tackle the tension for Boards at home and keep oneself and the child calm during this situation.

How often do you interact with your sons about school?

I interact with both my sons daily. Since my elder son has taken PCM stream, our conversation revolves mostly around studies, and with my younger one it is all about SIC and football practice he participated in. Both my children like the canteen food a lot at the school and are full of praise for the menu and the food there.

Has Apeejay made any positive impact on your sons?

Both my sons have become more confident and their communication skills are more enhanced after going to school. Moreover, since our native language is Marathi, we have a peculiar accent for that, and now both my sons are honed well in speaking good Hindi and English as well with their friends at school.

How much do you agree with the adage- that school is the second home for a child?

It is very much true because a child usually spends 50/50 of his/her time at home and school. And if there is positive and a good environment at the school, then it goes a long way in the holistic growth of a child.
