Yogesh Kumar is a Platform Advisory Associate in the Finance Department at Accenture. He pursued his Masters in Business Administration at Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, and is an alumnus of the 2022 batch. In a quick interview, the finance trainee speaks about his job profile, expectations and demands of his role. He also shares some tips for the current students. Read edited excerpts:
Could you explain your work profile to our readers?
I am currently undergoing my training here (online training on MS Teams in work from home mode). I will soon be assigned my first project. At the moment, I am being taught about an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software called SAP which means system application and product development.

What inspired you to join the finance sector?
Actually my domain is marketing, that has been my specialisation. Finance was allotted to me by the company. But I am happy here and am excited to learn this new field and increase my area of knowledge.
What are your best memories from AIMETC days?
I was in so many student-clubs there, and I was also performing the duties of placement coordinator. I took interviews with juniors, organised visits of various companies to our campus during the placement season. Of course, I can’t forget sitting on the lawn, having lunch with my friends. So many special memories.

A piece of advice for current students
Work on your basics. That is the key, simple and short.
One key lesson you learnt during your MBA
Keep some people on your side. The road to success isn’t measured by one single person. It is not about ‘I’ but ‘we’ in success.
Finally, where do you see yourself in the next five years?
In a good work environment, happily settled in life with my family. That’s the aim!
