The power of well-being

Published

on

The state of a person being happy, healthy, and comfortable is known as the well-being of a person. Therefore, a person’s well-being is ultimately what is good for them and aligns with their self-interest. It encompasses having good mental health, a high level of life satisfaction, a sense of meaning or purpose, and the ability to effectively manage stress. There are five types of well-being: physical well-being, emotional
well-being, social well-being, workplace
well-being, and societal well-being. It’s important to note that well-being goes beyond the mere absence of diseases or illness. A widely accepted viewpoint is that basic well-being includes the presence of positive emotions and moods, such as contentment and happiness.

When a person lacks well-being, it can have a detrimental impact on their mental health and potentially lead to conditions like depression. Fortunately, individuals can enhance their
well-being by adopting positive habits like getting adequate sleep, maintaining a balanced diet, getting exposure to sunlight, engaging in regular exercise, practicing yoga, and more. It’s worth acknowledging that building skills related to well-being requires time and effort, similar to acquiring any new skill set.

Many individuals may struggle to cope with their challenges, resulting in feelings of fear, restlessness, or stress. These negative emotions can contribute to a decline in their well-being, and they might exhibit signs such as avoiding social interactions or displaying signs of agitation. In such cases, it’s crucial to offer assistance. Engaging in conversations, understanding their concerns, providing reassurance, helping them connect with support networks, and offering assistance in any way possible can make a significant difference.

It is true that well-being plays a pivotal role in our lives, and its absence can lead to a sense of misery. Well-being equips us to navigate difficulties and empowers us to pursue and achieve our life goals. As the saying goes, “A healthy outside starts from inside.”
