Sahib Singh, an alumnus of Apeejay School, Saket (Batch of 2009), is a prime example of how school experiences lay the foundation for future success. Today, Sahib plays a pivotal role in his family’s film production company, Saheb Productions. In this conversation, he reflects on how his time at Apeejay shaped his leadership abilities, passion for sports, and how those experiences helped him excel in his career.

How did your time at Apeejay School, Saket, influence your career?

My time at Apeejay was transformative, especially from 6th grade onwards. I was heavily involved in sports, becoming the captain of the basketball team from 6th to 12th grade. The leadership skills I developed during this time were invaluable. I also credit my teachers, especially Sangeeta Tulsi, who helped me realise my potential. She taught me discipline and responsibility, which played a key role in shaping who I am today.

Were there any turning points in your school life that changed your perspective?

Absolutely! One significant moment was in 8th grade when Sangeeta Ma’am made me the class monitor, despite my average academic performance. It wasn’t about my grades but my sincerity and discipline. That trust pushed me to improve in both studies and leadership roles. Another memory is receiving the ‘Honesty Award’ in 8th grade, when I pointed out a grading error in my favour during a unit test. It was a lesson in integrity that I carry with me today.

How did extracurricular activities at Apeejay contribute to your growth?

I was deeply involved in extracurriculars, from sports to managing events. I believe these experiences helped me build strong leadership and teamwork skills, which are essential in my film production business today. Being part of the prefectorial board in 11th and 12th also taught me how to manage responsibilities effectively, something I use daily in my professional life.

What message would you give to current Apeejay students?

Enjoy every moment of your school life, but also recognise the value of the lessons you’re learning, both inside and outside the classroom. The skills you develop at Apeejay—whether through sports, leadership, or academics—will serve you in ways you may not realise until later in life. Stay disciplined, stay curious, and always strive to improve yourself.
