Securing the right role right after MBA is every management student’s dream — and Apeejay School of Management (ASM) continues to turn that dream into reality for its students. One such inspiring success story is that of Gaurav Rewari, a 2025 batch MBA graduate specialising in Finance and Marketing, who has been placed as a Branch Operational Officer at Canfin Homes Ltd.. Passionate about financial inclusion and customer interaction, Gaurav shares how his academic learning, interview preparation, and campus support shaped his journey.
Read edited excerpts:
What did the interview process look like during the campus placement?
It was a campus recruitment drive conducted at the zonal office. The first round was based on MCQ-style questions related to the housing finance sector. We were asked questions about NHB (National Housing Bank), which regulates NBFCs dealing with housing loans, along with RBI-connected compliance rules. The job description shared by the college helped us prepare extremely well in advance.
How did your MBA specialisations in Finance and Marketing help you crack the interview?
Finance gave me a strong foundation in understanding loan eligibility, credit assessment, investment structures, and overall company performance — which are key decision-making aspects in my job. I thoroughly studied Canfin’s loan book growth, debt levels and quarterly results before the interview. I was able to explain how the company continues to outperform competitors — something the panel appreciated.
Marketing, on the other hand, sharpened my communication and relationship-building skills — both essential in a client-facing role.
What excites you the most about your role as Branch Operational Officer?
Definitely people interaction. I love helping customers — especially those who have big dreams but fewer financial resources. Knowing that my decisions directly help a family own a home is truly fulfilling. I’m also looking forward to learning from real-time operational challenges and growing in a supportive work environment.
What is one piece of advice you want to give juniors preparing for placements?
Before any interview — know the company well. Connect classroom learning with real industry performance. ASM has given me great memories and a strong foundation to begin my career with confidence!
