As you step into the newly launched AI lab at Apeejay School International, Panchsheel Park, you will be awe-struck by the seamless integration of ‘future learning’. The space is designed to inspire curiosity and innovation among students. What catches your attention is the small AI-powered robot; it is programmed to do more than just respond to your voice. It can dance, perform workouts, and even entertain — showcasing the rapid advancements in technology. Just as AI is evolving, so is the school, embracing cutting-edge tools to enhance education for its students.

Apeejay Education has always prioritised holistic student development. The cutting-edge technology AI lab — Cyberdynamic Advanced Lab is a step in this direction. This innovative space offers students comprehensive exposure not only to AI but also to Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, robotics, Machine Learning, and more, providing a dynamic and future-focused learning environment.

The impressive ‘Robot Pathway Map’ is a large but meticulously designed guide that allows students to programme and direct the AI robot along its journey. This innovative feature exemplifies how students aren’t confined to theoretical knowledge, instead, they get to immerse themselves in real-world scenarios through virtual reality. It’s an exciting fusion of hands-on learning and cutting-edge technology.

The lab goes beyond conventional methods, introducing students to 3D printing, which integrates theoretical concepts with practical applications, particularly in mathematics, encouraging critical thinking.

“Robotics is the study of building and programming robots to perform complex tasks. It plays a crucial role in developing students’ problem-solving abilities and creativity. Robotics and AI education offers a unique platform for students to acquire essential 21st-century skills like problem-solving, computational thinking, creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking,” Mr Anant, AI/Robotics/ML Facilitator at ASI, explained.

At ASI, our curriculum caters to all age groups, the facilitator shared. “Younger learners in the PYP program can explore STEM concepts through hands-on technologies like Bee-Bot, Lego BricQ Motion Essential, and Lego Motion Prime, engaging with mechanics and motion through play-based learning,” he said.

As students advance to the MYP and DP programs, they use more advanced tools like Lego Spike Prime and Arduino kits, designing and programming robots to develop computational thinking and problem-solving. We also offer sessions on advanced AI technologies such as Humanoid Robots, Autonomous Cars, and Robotic Arms, helping students explore real-world AI applications.

ASI also employs an inquiry-based learning pedagogy blended with computational thinking. Through project-based learning, students design, build, and program robots, preparing them for future careers in STEM.

When it comes to robotics, students can program robots to perform various tasks like working, dancing, typing, and even practicing yoga. “This hands-on approach to automation not only demonstrates how technology simplifies life but also makes learning engaging and fun. Moreover, advanced concepts like self-driven technology, facial recognition, and computer vision are explored under the robotics curriculum, along with detailed instruction in Python coding,” Anant said.

The curriculum delves into both hardware and software communication, teaching students to perform complex tasks while sharpening their cognitive abilities. AI education is introduced as early as MYP-1 till DP-2,  where students learn how the human brain’s problem-solving capabilities compare to computer systems, exploring how robots perform basic daily activities like picking, placing, and typing.

“This comprehensive program builds a strong foundation for students, offering them a clear path toward mastering computational thinking. Through block-based coding and Python, students develop future-ready skills,” Anant stated.

With initiatives like these, Apeejay School International, Panchsheel Park, is taking a significant leap forward, empowering students to embrace the technology-driven world and learn the essential skills for the future.

Stay tuned to discover more groundbreaking innovations that is shaping the future of education at ASI.
