As part of its continued efforts to foster holistic education and spiritual awareness, Apeejay School, Saket, organised an enriching session under its revered Gita-Talk series. The session, centred around the timeless theme of ‘sacrifice’, offered students a deeper understanding of this concept through the lens of The Bhagavad Gita.
The event was graced by Shri Avdhesh Shrivastav, an esteemed speaker and spiritual guide, who brought clarity and practical insight into the spiritual dimensions of sacrifice.
Decoding ‘Sacrifice’
Contrary to the general belief that sacrifice only means giving up something valuable, the session helped students reinterpret sacrifice as a conscious act of selflessness and duty. In the context of The Gita, sacrifice (tyaag) is not just about renunciation of physical possessions. It is about doing one’s work with detachment, devotion, and without expectation of reward.
Shri Shrivastava explained that every action performed without selfish desire and with a higher purpose is, in fact, a form of sacrifice. From studying sincerely to helping others or simply fulfilling one’s responsibilities with integrity, all these qualify as sacred acts when done without personal motives.

Interactive Q&A
What made the session truly engaging was the interactive Q&A segment, where students were encouraged to voice their thoughts and doubts. Shri Shrivastava ji responded with relatable stories, practical examples, and powerful verses from the Bhagavad Gita, making ancient wisdom feel accessible and relevant to young minds.
Students asked thought-provoking questions like Can sacrifice be applied to student life?; Is working hard for exams without seeking rewards also a sacrifice?, and How can one avoid selfishness in a competitive world?
Each response offered by the speaker guided students toward introspection and balance. He reminded them that true sacrifice does not demand grand acts but consistent mindfulness and service-oriented living.

The session concluded on a spiritually uplifting note, with students reflecting on the meaning of sacrifice in their personal lives. Teachers and staff also appreciated the clarity and simplicity with which the topic was presented.
Through such value-based initiatives, Apeejay School, Saket reaffirms its commitment to nurturing not only intellectual excellence but also character, compassion, and emotional intelligence in students.
