In a world where empathy and kindness are essential for building strong communities, initiatives that promote sharing and compassion play a vital role. Activities like food donation drives not only address immediate needs but also foster a sense of responsibility and connection among individuals. These efforts teach students the importance of giving back, encouraging them to become thoughtful, compassionate citizens dedicated to serving those around them.

Recently, the students of Apeejay School, Model Town, embarked on a heartfelt mission to combat hunger by organising a food donation drive. This initiative aligns with the vision of the school’s Founder-Chairman, Dr Stya Paul, who aimed to nurture responsible individuals committed to societal service. Under the able guidance of  Mrs Sushma Paul BerliaChairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education, the concept of ‘man-making’ extends beyond academics, emphasising character development and a profound sense of empathy.

Students donated homemade food items, including chapati, rice, dal, sabzi, and biscuits; generous contributions came from the teachers as well. The highlight of the drive was the students’ visit to the local market, where they distributed meals to hardworking labourers, sharing not just food but also compassion and care.

Officiating Principal of the school, Ms Priyanka Grover praised the initiative, stating, “Acts of kindness like this teach us the true value of sharing and empathy. It is through such small yet meaningful steps that we can contribute to making the world a better place. This food donation drive was a powerful reminder of the impact we can have when we come together to support those in need. Together, we can truly make a difference.”

“Teaching values is not just about passing down information; it’s about shaping character and preparing students for life’s challenges in ways no textbook can. At Apeejay, our mission of ‘Man-making and Nation-building’ goes beyond academics, focusing on nurturing responsible, compassionate individuals who will contribute to a stronger and more ethical society,” Ms Maninder Kaur, HoD, Social Science Department said.

Overall, this initiative proved to be a resounding success with the school looking forward to continuing their efforts to address similar challenges in the future.
