COVID’s profound impact on lives and society

It looks as if nature is taking its revenge on humans, who had exploited it for centuries. A virus, roughly the size of a hundred-millionth of a meter, had forced us to close all types of activities and confine ourselves for survival.

Lockdowns were imposed in many countries for months, and in some cases, even years, yet the number of cases continued to multiply every hour. I believed things had changed completely back then. Who would have thought that students would meet their teachers online through Zoom calls? Who could have predicted that some people would never be able to see their loved ones again?

The coronavirus had forever altered the lives of billions of people. As I write this story, it has been nearly three years of living with the deadly virus, hearing news of daily deaths, and being unable to meet friends, relatives, and well-wishers we have lost.

We had been living without any knowledge of the future. One thing COVID has undeniably taught us is that everything in this world is temporary – our lives, our savings, our jobs, and even our loved ones. We had been and still remained uncertain about what the future held.

Throughout this period, doctors and healthcare workers emerged as veritable superheroes. Yet, the toll of their heroism was immense, and tragically, many lost their lives in the line of duty. They witnessed countless patients succumbing to the virus, while thousands languished, desperately awaiting treatment. The true extent of their sacrifices and the unimaginable challenges they faced surpassed our wildest imaginations.

Despite all of this, we must remember that it would eventually come to an end.
