Giving blood is a uniquely powerful act. It is universally known that blood is one of the most priceless gifts one can give to another. Certainly, blood is essential for a person to stay alive. Thus, students and faculty members of Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram set themselves for this big act.
The Rotaract Club of Apeejay Stya University in collaboration with Rotary Blood Bank recently organised Blood Donation Camp – “Give the gift of life: Donate blood, save futures”. The donation camp was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Delhi Premier.
On this special occasion, more than 50 Apeejay members became the reason for someone’s heartbeat. Making a huge difference, they gave a drop of blood with an objective to save not just one but many lives.
Alongside the blood donation activity, other parallel events were held including poster making and quiz competition in health related issues.

Sharing her blood donating experience, Anubhuti Dixit, MA Design 3rd Semester student expressed, “Donating blood is a meaningful way to contribute to the well-being of others, and I would feel a sense of fulfillment knowing that my simple act could potentially save lives.”
Another MA Design 3rd semester student Jyoti Yadav “Blood donation is a generous act that saves lives. Donating blood can help individuals in need, especially during emergencies, surgeries, and for those with medical conditions. If you’re eligible and interested in donating, you can reach out to local blood banks or donation centers to schedule an appointment.”
“Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person – the gift of life. A decision to donate your blood can save a life, or even several if your blood is separated into its components – red cells, platelets and plasma – which can be used individually for patients with specific conditions. Donating blood can help save the lives of people of all ages. Hospitals use blood donations for accident victims, organ transplant and surgery patients, and those with illnesses such as cancer. If you are considering giving blood, don’t wait any longer. There is nothing more empowering than knowing that you have the power to save lives,” said Kumud Kalra, a 1st year student.
As per Ishita Sharma, an MA Design 3rd semester student feels that participating in a blood donation camp is an incredible way to contribute to society. “The act of giving blood is a simple yet profound gesture that can save lives. The sense of fulfillment and the knowledge that you’re potentially making a significant impact on someone’s health is a powerful feeling.”
For Paridhi Bansal, a B Design 5th semester student, “This is not only a donation for others but donating blood is healthy as it also allows our body to renew the blood within a few weeks.”

“Donating blood is not just a donation of plasma and platelets, it’s a donation of hope, optimism and support. We, as responsible citizens of a developing and progressing society, should do our bit to enlighten the candle of hope in anyone’s dark phase of life,” said Aditi Singh, Apeejay student.
B Tech student Vikas highlighted that donating blood is a vital act of generosity that directly contributes to saving lives. “It’s a selfless gesture that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries, embodying the essence of human compassion.”
Resonating a similar thought like Vikas, Madhu Kumari, a BA B Ed student said, “Blood donation is like gifting somebody with a new life.we cannot revive a dead body to a living soul but can at least save a dying soul. We can do it only by giving him a few drops of our own blood. Donation of blood is a great act of kindness so every healthy person should donate their blood.”
Finally, Dr Vijay Kumar, Associate Professor, School of Education, who also coordinated the entire event, emphasised, “Donating blood is the highest donation. It would help save the life of a human, which is the biggest pious task. Our volunteers have done a great job by coming forward and donating blood in large numbers.”
