Living a life of truth and integrity means being honest in every action, thought, and word. “As a Class XI student of Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad, I believe integrity begins with small choices; keeping promises, and accepting our mistakes. It is also about doing what’s right even when no one notices,” shares Aryahi Chatterjee. In a candid interview, she speaks about how to face life with courage and self-respect.
How did you feel after receiving the prestigious Dr Stya Paul Award?
The fact that I was a recipient of the prestigious award was kept a complete secret from me until the moment of the assembly. The teachers had decided to inform as few people as possible. My parents were invited, of course, but they didn’t let me get even a hint. As the assembly began, it was such a beautiful, dreamlike moment of realisation when my name was called. Achieving something I had truly yearned for, in such an unexpected and meaningful way, has become one of my core memories.
What are the core human values you believe in?

I try to live by four core values: Integrity, Fairness, Humility, and Accountability. These guide me through every decision I make. Out of them, I value Fairness and humility the most. Whenever I witness injustice, no matter how small, I feel compelled to act; it just doesn’t sit right with me when someone is treated unfairly. Humility keeps me grounded. I remind myself that achievements don’t define how superior one is.
How much do you resonate with Apeejay Education’s motto?
I’ve been part of the school since nursery, so the motto Soaring High Is My Nature has been with me all my life. Over time, I’ve realised it’s more than just words; it’s an attitude that has shaped me and many of my peers. At 16, I may not have much life experience yet, but I’m proud of what I’ve achieved so far and how I’ve evolved as a person.
What’s your philosophy to lead a good life?
To me, a good life means enjoying meaningful moments with loved ones and contributing something positive to society. These two goals sum up what I aim for right now. All my academic and co-curricular efforts are steps toward finding a stable and fulfilling career. As a law aspirant, I want to use my work to defend the defenceless and help those who can’t fight for themselves.
What’s your biggest driving force in life?
My biggest driving force is the set of goals I’ve created for myself. They challenge me enough to keep me from ever becoming complacent, and they excite me enough to keep my spark alive. Every time I reach a milestone, it fuels me to aim higher and prove to myself that I can keep growing.
What are the basic human values people should have?
I think qualities like discipline, honesty, authenticity, and respect are essential. A disciplined person earns trust; honesty builds genuine connections; authenticity keeps you true to yourself; and respect makes the world more humane. Together, these values create a person who is not just successful, but truly good.
