Possessing human values is not something that just defines or shapes oneself, rather it tends to transform the entire community. They are the threads that we intend to weave together into a fabric of humanity. The ongoing weaving tends to keep shaping us for a brighter and a harmonious future for all. Meet Dhruvika Jain, a student of class X, studying at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, who recently received the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values.

In a candid interview, she speaks about how the award has helped her foster respect and a sense of cooperation all around.

Excerpts from the interview

I’m a social and outgoing person. I love writing. I’ve written over 30 poems in three languages — Hindi, English, and Punjabi. I aspire to become a Computer Science Engineer.

Human values are beyond simply participating in charitable activities. When it comes to charity, I believe it’s a moral obligation. We should always strive to offer free education to those who require it. This will contribute to the enhancement of India’s economy, which, in turn, will provide people with the chance to have improved job opportunities and a higher standard of living.

Art and culture are what I intend to follow ahead. My poems carry powerful messages and have already had a positive impact on many people. I’m passionate about moral values, writing, and theatre. Receiving this award has allowed me to influence even more people. For me, this award isn’t just a prize; it’s a confirmation of the values I possess. The 13 years I have invested at this school have made me realise it was all worthwhile.

My role model is my mother. She can handle her job as well as our home. She is very confident and knows how to tackle everything that comes her way diligently and sincerely.

Even with all the difficulties Dr Stya Paul faced, he achieved some truly amazing things in his life. He was a go-getter and always steadfast in his convictions. That’s something I’d like to learn from him. One of the most impressive things about Dr Stya Paul was how content he was. Nowadays, many of us try to get validation from society or our friends, whether it’s for our careers or on social media. But he never needed approval from anyone; he did things at his own pace and that’s what I wish to imbibe.

My grandma runs a charity organisation. On weekends, I go there to assist her in giving education to kids who are underprivileged or who are from socio-economic weak backgrounds. It feels soothing to help others enabling them to achieve a better life for themselves.
