She enjoys playing basketball, reading and writing poems, and sketching. She constantly strives to grow both academically and as a person, practising values like empathy, honesty, and responsibility. She realised that knowledge alone is not enough. Meet Pakhi Shrivastava of Class VIII at Apeejay School, Noida.
In a candid interview, she shares how she was inspired by her teachers and peers, who acted with kindness and integrity. “Seeing them made me want to follow the same path,” she said.
A situation where you demonstrated compassion that made a difference in someone’s life.
Once in my society, a younger girl was being teased. I stepped in, helped her feel safe, and spoke to the others involved. Later, she thanked me. That small moment taught me that even little acts can create a big impact.

How has your school helped you imbibe these values?
My teachers and peers have played a big part in helping me balance academics with responsibility. I have learnt that they are interconnected; both contribute to personal growth and character building.
What role have your parents played in shaping your human values?
My parents have built the foundation of human values in me. They have taught me kindness, honesty, and responsibility. Their constant guidance helps me stay true to these principles every day.
How do you balance academics with moral and human values?
I focus on my studies but never compromise on honesty or responsibility. I complete my tasks sincerely, help classmates when needed, and avoid shortcuts even when they seem easier.
What role do human values play in building character?
Values like empathy, honesty, and cooperation build trust and inclusivity. They reduce conflicts, improve teamwork, and create a safe, happy environment for everyone.
How do you plan to carry these values forward in life?
I believe small, consistent acts can create meaningful change. I plan to continue doing little acts of kindness and responsibility every day, as they can have a big impact on society.
What about Dr Stya Paul’s life inspires you the most?
I admire his humility. Despite being such a renowned person, he remained grounded, down-to-earth, and deeply loved children. That simplicity and compassion truly inspire me.
